The Northrop T-38 Talon
Modeled to the finest detail, the T-38 is a twin-engine, high-altitude, supersonic jet trainer used in a variety of roles. It is designed with economy of operations and ease of maintenance in mind. It is used by undergraduate pilots for pilot instructor training. The Talon can climb to 30,000 feet in one minute.
The T-38 has also been used as a spaceflight readiness trainer for NASA astronauts and as a chase aircraft during test flights and space launches.
In use since the 1960s as a military jet trainer, the T-38 has been used as a tool for helping pilots to learn supersonic techniques, aerobatics, night and instrument flying and cross-country navigation.
