The Piper Cheyenne 400LS
The 400LS is a twin engine, pressurized twin turboprop aircraft. It is very fast with a cruisingspeed over 350 KIAS. With a range of over 1,150 nautical miles and its luxurious, pressurized cabin,
it is ideal for corporate aviation or short commercial livery.
The Cheyenne 400LS is one of those rare airplanes that has it all. Large fuel capacity, comfortable
cabin, high speeds for long distances, and all on an ecomical amount of fuel. It represents raw power and
luxury. With a power-to-weight ratio of 6 pounds/horsepower, a climb rate of 3,200 feet per
minute at max takeoff weight, and a cruise speed of 350 knots, it is ideal for corporate aviation and
medium range commercial flights.
This comfortable and speedy aircraft has been a favorite for corporate and charter aviation. The
Cheyenne series is known for its versatility, having the ability to fly in and out of a variety of
different size airstrips, on just about any kind of surface.
The Cheyenne 400 LS was built to compete with Beech's successful King Air twin turboprop series.It was
originally designated the IV, is the performance model of the Cheyenne line. In production from 1984
to 1993, it was designated to compete with the performance of smaller fanjets. On December 17 1986
Gen. Charles E. "Chuck" Yeager established a new world speed record in a Piper Cheyenne 400LS from
Edwards Air Force Base, California to Kitty Hawk, North Carolina.
